New Forest High School stands as a beacon of educational excellence in South Manchester, Jamaica, proudly serving the vibrant community of New Forest PA and surrounding areas. Established in 2015 as part of the evolution of the historic New Forest Elementary School founded in 1948, our institution represents nearly eight decades of unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds. Under the exceptional leadership of Principal Arnaldo Allen, recipient of the prestigious Lasco Principal of the Year 2012 award for Region V, we have built a reputation for transforming students' academic journeys and empowering them to reach their full potential.
Our comprehensive secondary education program serves students from across South Manchester, drawing from neighboring primary schools to create a diverse and dynamic learning community. We take immense pride in our outstanding academic achievements, consistently maintaining 75%+ pass rates in CSEC subjects including Information Technology, Electrical studies, Physical Education, Food & Nutrition, Technical Drawing, Agriculture Science, Spanish, Biology, and Geography. Beyond traditional academics, we offer valuable City and Guilds certifications and NCTVET programs in high-demand fields such as Cosmetology, Construction, Electrical work, and Welding, ensuring our graduates are well-prepared for both higher education and immediate career opportunities.
What truly sets New Forest High School apart is our holistic approach to education, combining rigorous academics with exceptional programs in sports and performing arts. Our students have achieved remarkable success at the JCDC Festival of the Arts, earning numerous Gold Medals and prestigious national awards including the Marcus Garvey Award for Excellence. In sports, despite resource challenges, our athletes have excelled at the highest levels, with students competing at Boys and Girls Champs and our Female U.19 National Flag Football Team claiming the National All-Island Championship. With strong governance from our Board of Governors, led by Chairperson Trisha Williams-Singh, and active support from our Past Students Association and Parents' Teachers' Association, we continue to soar to new heights in educational excellence.
As we look toward the future, exciting developments await our campus, including a new $4M auditorium and an additional educational block with state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities, scheduled for construction in 2025-2026. These enhancements will further strengthen our ability to provide world-class education while maintaining the warm, supportive community atmosphere that makes New Forest High School truly special.
